Katie Murrey, LM, CPM

Katie Murrey has been attending births since 2009. She began supporting women at that time as a Midwifery Assistant to a home birth Midwife in a different state. She fell in love with birth work as a result of this 1.5 yr experience and began working independently as a Certified Doula in the Midwest.

From 2013 to 2016 she then began her studies in Midwifery through a distance academic program and completed an apprenticeship with a CPM/ ND. This experience in a Naturopathic Doctor’s office was an excellent one, and gave her experience in a broad range of Midwifery skills. It also profoundly impacted Katie’s perspective on general healthcare. This resulted in her receiving the national Certified Professional Midwife Certificate from NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) when her studies and clinical training were over.

For two years she then served as a CPM and Licensed Midwife at Prairie Naturopathic Doctors Clinic in MN, where she trained. During her apprenticeship there, she also traveled and served in Subic Bay, Philippines at a free-standing birth center, working with the poorest women in the country, and in Washington State at The Special Delivery Co. Birth Center. Her experience in the Philippines with Mercy in Action Organization greatly impacted her family and led to the adoption of Katie’s two daughters years later.

In 2018, after moving South, she opened Ancient Paths Birth Services, then joined the Beloved Birth team in 2022. She has been married for 16 years, and she and her husband have two adopted little girls, Arabella Grace and Liana Jane from the Philippines. Her husband works for Thornwell, an adoption and foster care non-profit organization. Her family and 2 dogs, a cat, 6 chickens, and 2 bunnies all live in Easley, SC and they enjoy gardening, good books, good food, hiking in nature, traveling, camping, and most of all spending time with each other.
